介詞和賓格

  不要忘記介詞後面永遠要用賓格。

  例47

  不要說：Between you and I（你我之間）

  

  而要說：Between you and me（你我之間）

  不要拿兩個介詞修飾一個賓語，除非它們之間有緊密的聯繫。

  例48

  不要說：He was refused admission to and forcibly ejected from the school.（他被拒絕接收，並且被迫從學校開除了出去。）

  而要說：He was refused admission to the school and forcibly ejected from it.（他被學校拒絕並開除。）

  SUMMON—SUMMONS

  例49

  不要說：I shall summons him.（我將召喚他來。）

  而要說：I shall summon him.（我將召喚他來。）

  summon是動詞，summons是名詞。

  可以說：I shall get a summons for him.（我將召喚他來。）

  而不要用summon。

  UNDENIABLE—UNEXCEPTIONABLE

  例50

  如果我想表達我的哥哥性格很好的話，那麼，

  My brother has an undeniable character.（我哥哥有著無可爭辯的性格。）

  這句話是錯的。應該說：

  My brother has an unexceptionable character.（我哥哥有著無可指摘的性格。）

  An undeniable character指的是無可否認的性格，無論好壞。An unexceptionable character指的是無可指摘、無可批評的性格。
